The Present and Mountain Biking

Playing in the unfolding of the present moment while traveling the spiritual path is, in many ways , like mountain biking, one of my favorite activities.  While riding a tight and twisting single track bike trail, the experienced rider is in total communion with his or her surroundings;  but never will they take their eyes off the trail.  Looking behind or too far ahead, the rider will surely miss the rock, rut,  or other obstacle immediately before them. Both the spiritual traveler and the mountain biker are playing in the unfolding of the experience.  This is the same for any activity that encompasses body, mind and soul.  The present moment is where the action is.  This not only applies in the world of sports, but also to everything from vigorous activity to contemplative moment.  Regret, related to something from the past or anxiousness for the future, knock one off the path.  Live in the now and enjoy every microsecond of the unfolding.

I am not talking about fatalism, where one sits in life’s theater and enjoys the show.  The present moment is a place where time slows down,  allowing the pilgrim or, in this case, the bike rider plenty of conscious awareness to fully participate in each unfolding moment, moments as full of co-creative beauty as they are mystery.  It is like a dance and your dance partner is none other than Source itself, the one consciousness.    Focus on the Present Moment and you will never step on the toes of your dance partner.   Follow your joy and you will surely find your way.

A Recent Pondering – The Continuum

The continuum of all that is, spreads across creation like a vibratory tapestry. At each quantum vibrational level is contained unlimited knowledge and wisdom. To touch and unlock the secrets of each level we must resonate with each vibrational level’s signature. Within each level are multiple octaves and related harmonics, but all are frequency and by matching one’s frequency with each level we are invited to explore its mysteries. It is a glorious quest.

Just as we now vibrate in third density and are exploring and resonating with the secrets of the physical world, so we will ascend back to the Father on this endless loving staircase which moves through all levels of creation. At each level we are reacquainted with our true self on that level until we have fully absorbed the gifts offered. These gifts have always been ours. We merely left them behind as we plumbed the depths of involution, or the exploration of ever greater density. Now we travel back up the golden stair reclaiming that which was left behind, reuniting with each level as we climb home. This is the spiritual evolutionary journey back to the Father. This involution and evolutionary quest was chosen by each of us at the beginning of time. In the process of reuniting we rediscover, understand and heal that part of the tapestry uniquely ours.

Does this adventure sound familiar. In many ways, it is the story of the prodigal sons and daughters returning home.

To a Friend Who has Lost His Way ©

With heartbreak, I watch my friend, lost in the night
Moving through shadows, just out of sight
Feeling unworthy of His Holy light
Hiding from Love and all that is bright
Some dark false specter now has his ear
Spreading illusions through words of fear
Blinding his senses from all that is dear
Piercing his heart where once was life’s cheer
And now false blindness, causes forget
How did such pure love turn to regret
Suddenly, all seems, like such a threat
Where once was beauty, now karmic debt
How did this good man fall, lose his way
Watching fear enter, colors turn grey
False guides befriended, and soon lead astray
False guides that he will, soon need to slay
Deep within his heart, the truth resides
Good must awaken from deep inside
Awaiting his choice and the turn of the tide
Waiting for him to awake and decide
To remember his gifts which so freely he shared
So many healed, by just knowing he cared
He gave so freely, nothing was spared
A world much brighter, because he chose to dare
Somehow he’s forgotten his many gifts
So many in need, who he tried to lift
In his forgetting, his faith set adrift
Toward increasing darkness, thoughts seemed to shift
How did his joy turn to darkest night
Unworthy perceptions, feeding the blight
Veiling the truth in illusions false fright
The cure so simple, just accept His Light
For we are of Oneness, and never alone
Though darkest evil wants this fact unknown
Through fears of aloneness, its many lies sewn
Yet it only takes one small flame to lead home
From the smallest spark to the greatest blaze
God’s light can straighten the twisted maze
And clear the eyes and the blindman’s blank gaze
Detoxing his mind from the devil’s haze
If only he knew how much he’s admired
Remembering truth is all that’s required
So many he touched, so many inspired
Such gifts return and can never expire
Giving’s the key to one’s joy on this plane
It lifts one to light, where falsehoods are slain
Such actions and thoughts soon unshackle our chains
And lead us to the peace of His holy reign
These words of support, I now launch in time-space
That he might remember his work still awaits
Our lives are a marathon, not a short race
For we are light beings, filled with God’s grace

Remember dear friend, how special you are to so many.

Thoughts On Stillness ©

A Poem by RHW

Within is a place of pure stillness.
Where movement is barely detected.
Where light is the only vibration.
Potential beyond Comprehension.
Beyond all earthly perception.
Sculpting all forms from idea.
Broadcasting templates for all life.
The physical realms of creation.
Yet always residing in silence.
The power beyond revelation.
Calling us home from our service.
Sharing its holy refreshment.
Love flowing through all Light-bearers.
Who soar with each new revelation.
Pure peaceful and holy still waters.
The realm through which all good flows to us.
We only need know and request it.
And soon it infuses our being.
His power, unlimited flowing.
Awakening all with pure knowing.
In stillness it whispers its secrets.
And so we must choose revelation.
Residing so closely in stillness.
The Silence, His gift to creation.

Secrets of an Open Heart ©

Open your heart and let all it has to offer the world flow freely.
Like the drawing of a warm bath which flows from cold to cool to warm to hot, let your love grow in intensity and consistency.

Become a witness to your love as it sweeps through the world healing all it touches.
Rejoice as it blends with the love of your co-workers, dissolving the illusions of the ego, and misguided thought-forms formed over the millennia.

Love flows over the world one encounter at a time, wherever called, whenever chosen.
And so it is.
God Bless

Love Musings ©

I live to love
Through love I live
Loving is the way I grow
Through growth, I learn to love more effectively
Loving reveals the truth
Perceiving the truth frees my soul
A free soul heals the world
It has always been so
This is the quest laid before us when time began
We came into the world loving
Know this and be a light for those who have lost their way
Through service, we add our light to the world
That which we seek is within our grasp
A pearl of great price
It is Love
Love is the glass which never empties
Love is the call from the inner silence
Only love can fill one’s life
Love is our very essence
Unless realized completely, we are less than we can be
All pursuits are empty without love
Only love can eliminate fear
Pledge yourself to the adventure Love has laid before us
In no other pursuit are courage, wisdom and virtue put more to the test
In no other pursuit are the rewards more precious
Yet, through love the path is widened and made straight
Love is both the challenge and the reward,
Both the means and the objective
Both beginning and end
Fill your life with love and live your Oneness with All
God Bless

Who Am I ©

A Contemplation

I am Love trying to break through the illusion of being alone

I am Oneness fighting for recognition in the physical realm

What is true above is veiled from the senses below

But can never be hidden from the heart

The truth from above enters the world through the heart

Like a dolphin using sonar signals to find its way

So the heart sends our signals of Love, to navigate this world

Through Love the path is revealed

What was hidden by illusion coalesces into its true nature

A nature which was never lost

Rather it was a vibration just beyond the earthly senses

But not beyond the heart

Great ones have told us, “Love is the way”

Let your heart lead and never be lost

Let mind find its role as servant to the heart

Together they reveal God’s Kingdom on earth

Heart and mind travel the road together,

The road of awakening to His Kingdom on earth

And so it is

And so it has ever been

God Bless

The Realm of Silence ©

While contemplating the peace of the early morning, the following verses jumped into my journal.

We search for the Silence. We search for His peace.

A realm so exquisite. That seems our of reach.

It calls and we answer. Our senses alert.

But senses can’t touch it. And neither can words.

But somehow we hear it. Somewhere deep within.

Our hearts long to join it. New life to begin.

Our whole body quickens. We leap beyond time.

Traveling without moving. We touch the sublime.

No feeling describes it. No words and no thoughts.

Its presence known only, by the joy that it brought.

Angels sing in thanksgiving. The truth behind light

We have only to choose it, to invoke Heaven’s might

It has always been with us. Blessing all from the start.

Follow Love and you’ll find it, on its throne in your heart

More On Meditation

Based upon some of the comments received related to my last post on Meditation, I thought it might be helpful to expand on some of the ideas, thoughts and methodology.

Some thoughts on meditation and its relation to right and left brain development

There are many types of meditation and some work better for certain people than others.  For this reason, I urge all to experiment with different approaches until you find one that you are comfortable with.  For me meditation starts with concentration which evolves, with practice, into pure contemplation and ultimately Samadhi or awakening.  This approach has been practiced for thousands of years in the East, and more recently, the West. At its root lies Raja (Kingly) Yoga which is so beautifully described in The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.  This is the method I have used for the last several decades and  will attempt to describe, at least partially below.

Yoga practices or sutras prepare both the concrete and the abstract mind, for the torrent of energy which  will flow through the chakras as a result of increasingly intense spiritual practices and focused loving intent.  Complimentary practices can enhance this effort and can easily be incorporated into your spiritual regimen. These might include, all sincere loving prayers, mantras, affirmations, communion, acts of service, chants, uplifting music,  etc.

Concentration

Concentration is the ability to bring the minds energy into tight focus around a subject.  In so doing, the mind’s constant chatter naturally subsides and we begin to experience the power we have at our disposal, the power of concentrated silence.  Daily life and all its noise, temptations, apparent chaos, challenges etc., fragments this power, diluting it down to a faint reflection of its true nature and strength.  Concentrated intent brings it back together to be used more effectively and powerfully in our daily and spiritual lives (although I would argue that our daily and spiritual lives are one and the same).  This concept fits well with the practice of calling back our stray energy, broadcast out into the universe by an unruly mind and misguided intentions. Only energy stamped with our loving intent should flow out to the world and beyond.  This energy so reclaimed is part of our holy Life Force and must not be wasted.  It is as easy as demanding its return.  When focused through Love it has power beyond words to describe.

Concentration in meditation can revolve around a seed thought, mantra, mandala, scriptural passage, something in nature, etc.  One way to strengthen concentration around a seed thought might be to evaluate the object  from the perspective of its form exhausting every aspect of the form, then moving on to the quality of the form.  Does it quicken your heart, give you an energy surge or perhaps have the opposite effect?  Is it joyful, energizing, depressing; whatever quality appears in your mind?  The next step is to evaluate its purpose.  Take for example, the purpose of a beautiful oak tree.  Its purpose is to stand as a symbol of strength, providing wood for building or habitat for all manner of life, above and below the ground.  Its majesty and beauty moves us. It holds the soil together against erosion.  It stores carbon while providing life giving oxygen for all life.  It works closely with Gaia in cleansing the air.  Our evaluation of the object can go on and on and the deeper we go the stronger our mind gets.  As I have said before, it is like exercising a muscle.  The final step is to evaluate the cause behind the object.  Identifying the cause is a higher mind function.  When, for example, you can see clearly the spirit behind the form you have connected the concrete mind to the higher mind and you are well on your way to integrating and balancing the two such that spirit flows effortlessly from the higher and lower.  In physical terms, you are balancing the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere seamlessly into one thousand petaled lotus. Please note, that I am not implying that the left hemisphere is the lower mind and the right is the higher, or vice-versa.  I think it would be more accurate to say that the lower mind is the separated mind while the higher mind is the balanced integration of the two hemispheres.  Through balance and integration our contact with spirit is infinitely enhanced.

Closely related to this balancing and strengthening process is visualization.  Visualization, which is to a great extent a right brain skill set, strengthens our abstract mind.  Any practice of visualization helps this process.  One might for example, visualize the building of a bird house.  This hardly sounds like a spiritual practice but it can be and more accurately should be.  Bringing spirit into every aspect of the incarnated world is the objective it seems to me.  Take the birdhouse for example.  Visualize drawing the plans, determining the dimensions, buying the materials, measuring and sawing, fastening, drilling, sanding, painting and hanging in your garden.  Even visualize a mother bird building her nest, laying eggs, feeding and caring for her babies, watching them grow, learning to fly and leave the nest.  Then visualize the seasons, their effect on the birdhouse and the following season when another or perhaps the same bird couple come back to the nest.  Evaluate the birdhouse from the standpoint of its form, quality, purpose and cause.  Analyze your role in the process.  Watch the birdhouse slowly lose its luster as nature reclaims her gifts.  On and on it can go.  The magic is that during the entire process you are using both the higher and lower mind, the right and left brain in balanced coordination.  You are learning to see and use creative energy.  You are learning to connect the higher and lower seamlessly.  You are connecting heaven and earth and tangibly contributing to the ascension of creation.

As mentioned in the previous post, one final practice that I highly recommend is to journal your experiences, insights and revelations.  The physical act of writing is a function of the lower mind, while putting your heavenly experiences into words requires the higher mind.  By using both together, you are training yourself to bring the higher to the lower, while you teach the lower to reach for the higher.  This process takes place via any creative endeavor, poetry, art, music, even creative problem solving in our daily lives.

Hopefully this makes some sense.  Just wanted to share.  This works for me, but of course there are as many paths to God as there are people.

Wishing you the best,

RHW
